Before our first appointment you will receive an email directly from my EHR called Simple Practice. In the email will be a link, click it, and it will walk you step by step through the initial process. It will first have you create a password and then walk you through each disclosure form and questionnaires to fill out before our first scheduled appointment. Also, please save the webpage for easier access to your account as you will need to return to this page from time to time.
Then you will receive an email 10-5 minutes before your scheduled appointment with a link to our virtual session. If you do not receive an email please call or text me 253-242-3229 and I’ll make sure it gets to you. If you are using a computer you’ll click the link and a virtual session will automatically open in your web browser. If you need to use a tablet or phone, you will first need to download the “Telehealth by SimplePractice” app before your appointment. Once the app is installed follow the same steps, click the link and a session will automatically open in the app.

For children 12 yrs old and younger the first session will involve play activities to establish rapport and provide additional assessment. For 13-18 year olds we will begin with an activity to get to know one another and depending on the comfort level of the teen we may engage in some discussion about their concerns. For adults we will review the intake assessment to discuss in more detail what brings you to therapy, identify treatment goals, and address any concerns or questions. At the end of the first appointment, we will discuss treatment frequency and what next sessions will look like.
-
It’s hard to say an exact number of sessions. Factors that influence the length of treatment are, symptom severity, how frequently symptoms are occuring, if any additional physical/neurological concerns are present, and how frequently we are able to meet (weekly, bi-weekly). We will do a treatment review around the six month mark to check in on progress and review our goals. Additionally, some family’s enjoy having a dedicated time to process general life stressors, emotions, and connection. Therefore, initial concerns may have been resolved but that does not necessarily mean therapy has to end. It really depends on your family’s specific goals, needs, and desires.

I reserve specific days/times to each client. Therefore, when you initially begin services we will discuss what day/time slot is available. That way you will have the same day and same time each week. If appointment changes need to be made they are subject to what is available at that time. To do so please call, text, or message through your Simple Practice account.
-
You can leave me a voicemail, text, or message through the Simple Practice account at any time and I will get back to you the following business day. However, if you are experiencing a medical crisis please call 911. If you have an emotional crisis please go to the nearest ER or call the 24 hour Pierce County Crisis Line at 1-800-576-7764. You may also call the 24/7 National Suicide Prevention Hotline at 1-800-273-8255 or text “Home” to 741741 to connect with a crisis center.

I genuinely value every family’s time and our time together. Therefore, I ask that you provide a minimum of 24 hours’ notice for schedule changes or cancellations in order to provide another family in need of that time slot. If under the 24hrs the fee ranges from $75-$150 depending on how closely it is to your scheduled appointment (please read Practice Policy/Consent to Bill form closely for detailed fee schedule).. No call/No shows will be charged $150.

In the state of Washington the age of consent and the right to confidentiality is 13 years old and above. Therefore, your teens' treatment will stay confidential unless they provide written consent. However, I know the importance of parent support and often work to receive consent so that parents can be involved as needed. For children 12 years old and under, parents will have the right to confidentiality and treatment will stay private unless the parent gives written consent.
